Robyn Madden

Robyn has handled hundreds of professional licensing and employment-related matters before the various boards at the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (LLR), including the Board of Nursing, Board of Medical Examiners, Board of Dentistry, Board of Psychology, State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers, Board of Social Work, and Board of Contractors.

Robyn has handled hundreds of LLR professional licensing matters, including:

  • Helping clients secure a license during the application process and appearing at an application or renewal hearing.
  • Providing employment advice when dealing with a non-compete agreement.
  • Advising on whether a course of conduct is within the confines of a practice act.
  • Challenging cease and desist orders and/or temporary suspension orders seeking to timely return clients back to work.
  • Assisting clients under investigation for claims of misconduct or facing criminal charges.
  • Challenging the evidence presented and proposed practice based restrictions in a disciplinary hearing.
  • Seeking a modification of an existing consent agreement or appeal of an order issued by an LLR board to the Administrative Law Court.

Robyn also defends long-term care facilities, employers, and professionals in state and federal courts.

Robyn understands the law as well as the impact that an allegation of professional misconduct can have upon a client’s livelihood. She is a vigorous advocate from the investigative stage through final hearing. Preparation begins from the moment she is retained. Robyn guides clients through the administrative process and ensures that clients are ready for an LLR board hearing, administrative review, or the next step when faced with civil litigation. She also handles appeals to the South Carolina Administrative Law Court.

In South Carolina, an accusation of a drug- or alcohol-related problem may result in a referral to the South Carolina Recovering Professionals Program (RPP). Robyn routinely serves as an advocate for her clients as they navigate through the RPP intake and assessment process.  Robyn has successfully challenged temporary suspension orders prohibiting continued practice based upon claims of RPP noncompliance.

Robyn and the Turner Padget statewide professional license defense team provides an aggressive, multi-dimensional, strategic defense. When a complaint is initiated against your professional license, there are multiple collateral issues to consider including: current and future employment, the impact of the current allegation upon your ability to advance your education and your career, potential or pending criminal charges, even questions concerning fitness for practice. Failing to consider and prepare for collateral concerns, or improper timing related to a single issue can have lasting consequences. Robyn understands the importance of a strategic, well-planned defense, and what actions to take before a hearing to ensure that you are well-prepared.
