This webinar will discuss on the overwhelming increase in the use of telemedicine during the pandemic and beyond. It will explore the keys to avoiding and defending the medical malpractice claims to follow. Understanding the technology, regulations, and malpractice considerations will allow professional liability insurers to better mitigate risk and protect their insureds. This presentation will provide an overview of the history of the technology and the cybersecurity risks associated with its use. The presentation will also explore important considerations to avoid future malpractice claims, including documentation, informed consent, practicing across state lines and abandonment issues. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of cases of medical malpractice in telemedicine.

About the Speakers

A shareholder in Reminger Co., LPA's Indianapolis office, Nick Brunette has more than a decade of litigation experience representing defendants in complex civil litigation. Nick has a broad legal practice that encompasses professional liability and licensing, including legal, dental, and medical malpractice defense, employment, product liability, municipal defense, trucking liability defense, and appellate practice. He has managed all phases of a variety of complex litigation in both State and Federal Court. Nick possesses extensive trial experience, having tried cases involving several medical disciplines as well as general liability and transportation risks. Prior to joining Reminger, Nick was a partner in a Northwest Indiana litigation firm.

Nick is known for his unwavering commitment to his clients and passionate representation. As a Green Bay, Wisconsin native, he truly believes that “the price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.

Adam Davis is a Shareholder practicing in Reminger’s Cleveland office. He is a civil trial lawyer focusing on medical, nursing and health care litigation. Adam regularly serves as lead counsel in litigation disputes in both state and federal courts. He also regularly advises clients on regulatory matters involving board investigations and disciplinary actions. He has tried over twenty jury trials to verdict and is well-versed in all aspects of the litigation process.

Adam has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Ohio Super Lawyers Magazine in 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018 and 2019, a recognition given to less than 2.5% of lawyers in the State of Ohio. Adam is a member of various professional associations and previously served for six years as an adjunct professor for Cleveland-Marshall College of Law's Mock Trial Team, coaching second and third year law students in trial advocacy.

Prior to obtaining his undergraduate and law degrees, Adam spent a year living abroad in Munich, Germany as an outbound exchange student through Rotary International Youth Exchange. He currently serves as the President of the Shaker Heights Rotary Club through which he is involved in various community service.
