About the Speakers

Mark Giacopelli, Esq. is a Director at Nationwide.  Mr. Giacopelli presently manages a team of claims attorneys who specialize in errors and omissions and cyber matters.  Over the last nine years, Mr. Giacopelli has both directly handled and supervised thousands of primary and excess matters, including lawyers’ liability, insurance agents and brokers’, real estate professional, cyber, and employment practices claims.  Prior to joining Nationwide, Mr. Giacopelli worked at a third-party administrator, handling various professional liability claims.  Mr. Giacopelli also spent nine years practicing law, with a focus on insurance coverage, commercial, real estate and intellectual property litigation.  Mr. Giacopelli has a Bachelor of Science in business administration from the State University of New York at Albany and received his Juris Doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law.  

Steven Joseph currently serves as Second Vice President for Western World Insurance, an AIG Company.  Steven has served as the Chair of the Dispute Resolution Committee of the TIPS Section of the ABA from 2010-2011 as well as the Co- Chair of the Litigation Section’s Professional Liability Committee from 1999 to 2002. 

Steve has spoken and written both on managing professional liability actions and negotiation techniques for the Professional Liability Underwriting Society, Practicing Law Institute, Corporate Counsel of America, and the American Bar Association.  He is a 1986 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Iram is a business-minded civil trial attorney, who regularly represents individual professionals and commercial and not-for-profit entities in the following fields and industries: legal, medical practice, pharmaceutical, insurance, financial, real estate, debt collection, construction, restaurant, hospitality, transportation, manufacturing, and public and private education. Iram is Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. Over the past 18 and a half years, he has secured for his clients innumerable favorable resolutions and dispositions, as well as several defense jury verdicts and favorable appellate decisions.*

Mr. Valentin served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph P. Perfilio, J.S.C., Superior Court of New Jersey, Union County. A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and Fordham University School of Law, he was a Notes & Articles Editor on the Fordham Journal of Corporate & Financial Law. While at Fordham, Mr. Valentin also interned for the Honorable Denny Chin, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, and at the New York Stock Exchange Division of Enforcement, and participated in the Securities Arbitration Clinic, appearing before the NASD.
